Created for student in 2nd-4th grade, Barefoot Island is a fun, engaging project to help reinforce mapping skills. Students create their own legend using 10-15 symbols that are typically found on maps (i.e. Grocery Store, Gas Station, School). They then add those symbols to their map of Barefoot Island. Students become city planners as they place their symbols in appropriate zones. Glue the complete map and legend to construction paper and you have yourself a great social studies project to hang in the hall!
I think this would be a great activity for our extension teacher to do with our students. Could you include your sample in the file also, so they the teacher would have something to show as an example? Thanks :)
Yes, not a problem. I'm new to this site and I thought I could add multiple files, but I think I read they need to be all in one or zipped together. Please let me know if it doesn't download with the changes.
