Ashley1(c) re: Bud, Not Buddy Literature Guide: 80 pages of Standards-Based materials
Hi Kristen, I am interested in purchasing Bud, Not Buddy guide. I teach fifth grade. Do you think it is going to be too difficult for them?

Hello Ashley,
Thanks for your question. As far as difficulty level of the novel itself, I think it is perfect for 5th grade. The activities and worksheets of the Literature Guide for Bud Not Buddy are varied, ranging from 5th to 7th grade level work. Some activities will be perfect for the 5th grade level, others may provide more of a challenge for those at the 5th grade level. I have tried to provide enough choices that all these grade levels (and learning abilities) have enough work. If you would like to see more sample pages, just visit our website at http://www.4secondarysolutions.com/Middle_School.htm. Please let me know if you have further questions!

I tried to look at the free preview and it would not open. I tried a number of different offerings by you and none of the previews would open.

I am not sure what is happening. It may be a problem on the website, or it may be a problem with the way I have the previews set up. I will look into it. In the meantime, you can check out previews of any of our materials at http://www.4secondarysolutions.com/Free_downloads.htm. Thanks for your interest!

The Essay Architect Writing System has been successfully used in grades 7 through 11. It really depends upon the level of your students. If your students have a general grasp of writing, but need work on the specifics of writing a five-paragraph essay, Essay Architect will be right for you. It does not go into detail about writing a sentence or a paragraph, but rather, assumes students already have a grasp of these concepts. You may want to check out the sample pages and description on our website at www.4secondarysolutions.com/Essay_Architect.htm. Hope this helps!

I am thinking about purchasing the Essay Architect Writing System for use in my 7th and/or 8th grade classroom. Which grade would you say it was more appropriate for?

Hi Kristen,
I just wanted to tell you that I absolutely loved your materials!!!! Very well written and planned out. You covered everything that students need to learn.
I have a question for you. I saw that you are one of the top sellers. How I can get teachers to download and purchase my materials from this website? I've had other teacher's in my building just go bonkers over my stuff. They say things like, "How do you do that? I want to create stuff like that"! or "You are extremely talented and you use your talents to the max - good job"! and finally, "How can I get my hands on your stuff?" Give me some insight. I feel like no one is paying attention to my masterpieces! Is there a way I can email you? Take a look at my materials.
Thanks,
Arlene Talbert

Okay, I'm slow. LOL! I just read your background info about your company. So my next question is, how did you do it? I'm about to have my first child and would love to find a way to work from home. With 10 years of teaching under my belt along with experience in grades 2-7, all subject areas, at-risk and gifted kids alike, I've got a lot of ideas. Did you create an LLC? How did you get your copyright? I'd love to learn more about how you do it. Thanks!

Dear BeeBee,
Thank you so much for your support! As I mentioned in my post, our guides deliberately focus on content and quality. I cannot tell you how frustrated I have been in the past to have spent my money on a guide, only to have materials that have a few questions on the page and have so much "white space" that I think, "I could have written a few questions on the board and just told them to write everything on a separate piece of paper!" Additionally, I only get a certain number of copies per year, and I do not want to "waste" them on practically blank paper!
I am sure that for that particular resource teacher, our materials may be too complex. We have had other resource teachers praise our products immensely!
I truly appreciate your comments and support of Teacherspayteachers and Secondary Solutions. Please let us know what you think of Freak the Mighty! Tangerine is currently being written by the same author of Among the Hidden and Freak the Mighty, so if you loved these, you will certainly love Tangerine! Thanks again, and take care!
Sincerely,
Kristen Bowers

Dear Ms. Bowers,
I was appalled at the review for Among the Hidden on the TeachersPayTeachers website. I have the literature guide for Among the Hidden, and it is INCREDIBLE! (That other reviewer should be buying from some other company if all s/he wants is white space and remedial work.) That is what I like so much about your literature guides! They give the kids so many different types of activities and worksheets—things to do—that are totally engaging. My students have really enjoyed the activities, and have even commented to me that they think the work is not too hard and not too easy, but "just right." They actually appreciate that they have to think, but it is not overwhelming to them. I like that there are individual activities, as well as the group projects, and I have to say, when they have worked in groups on the vocabulary in context activities, they were actually ON TASK, and fully engaged! This is GREAT STUFF and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT to all my friends and co-workers! I recently bought the guide for Freak the Mighty and can't wait to start it this semester. By the way, are you thinking about doing a literature guide for Tangerine any time soon? Anyway, thanks so much for writing materials that I can really USE!

Thank you so much, Renee!
I truly appreciate your comments--don't forget to rate them! For some reason, I haven't been able to get anyone to rate my products! :)
To answer your question, both Beowulf and Canterbury Tales are on the schedule for release next year. Unfortunately I do not have a date yet, but if you are interested, keep checking our website at www.4secondarysolutions.com for updates, a list of all our materials, and a list of what is coming soon.
Again, I really appreciate your comments and I thank you for taking the time to write me.
Warmest Regards,
Kristen Bowers

Hello Ms. Bowers,
I read the comment that was posted below and I can say that the reason you have sold so much is because your literature guides are fantastic! I have been teaching for many years and have selected and rejected a lot of teacher materials; however, none of them have had the quality of yours.
I would like to know if you have literature guides available for Beowulf and the Canterbury Tales?
I plan to purchase more of your guides in the near future and would be interested in seeing a list of all that you have available.
Respectfully yours,
Renee Mackie
