This is a packet that contains 26 different story problems for math, aligned to the First Grade Common Core Math Standards, all related to vacation/travel! They are better suited for the beginning of the year in First Grade and end of year Kindergarten.
It is designed to get your students back into the swing of problem solving. They are half page sized. You can keep it as a full page booklet for your students or cut them in half for a mini-book.
Key features:
-Space to draw picture to solve
-Space to write the number sentence
-Already underlined numbers and "Key Words" to get students to focus on those to know who to solve.
There are a few pages of Enrichment story problems-which are also correlated to the First Grade Common Core Standards, but most likely has not been introduced yet in your classroom.
TWO VERSIONS ARE INCLUDED: The first is in color and the second is in black and white.

I live in CA and we will be using the Common Core stds. starting in 2013-2014, but K, 1, and 6 are supposed to try one math unit second semester of next year. Since I'm in first, I decided to jump in and switch to the new stds. a year early. Your back to school story problems will get me started. I would love to pick your brain about pacing, etc. If that's okay, could you email me at mcleanjenny@hotmail.com? I love your work!
Thank you for your comment! =) BTW-I think I did email you a few weeks ago-with the end of the school year, I'm not quite sure how long ago it was--it could have been last week-it just feels like weeks ago! :) Let me know if you didn't get it (you can email me at rubin1stgrade(at)gmail(dot)com)

I have been teaching since 2001. The first 2 years I spent teaching full day kindergarten. Since then I have been teaching wonderful little 6-7 year olds in first grade!
