We are always looking for new classroom management strategies, tips and techniques each new school year.
Throughout each year we see what works in our classroom and what doesn't work, further allowing us to think about the following year and how we want to see things in our new classroom. Now, ofcourse, what works in your classroom one year may not necessarily work the same the following year which is why it is always a good idea to try new things.
First up, is a 'Behavior Paper' - This is simply a paper that is to be filled out by your students based on their behavior/attitude. There is a set of questions to be answered such as 'what happened and where it happened, who was involved, what they will do in the future, etc.' This is to be completed, sent home, discussed with parent(s)/guardian(s), signed and returned. It is a good idea to file this paper in each student's personal portfolio, for reference, easy access, etc.
In my classroom, the 'behavior paper' is discussed at the beginning of the new school year and is clearly understood by all students that on the third notice, further consquences will be reinforced.
This is a fantastic, simple and an 'easy to implement' strategy for any grade! Best part is, you can download and customize it to best suit your class.
