This is lecture notes I developed when I was the guest lecturer in a college level calculus class that was taught in my old high school. The general goal was to show the students that calculus could be used for something in reality. While integration is used in a very minor part (Radius of Gyration), the lecture does tie a lot of things together.

The following topics are covered:
Tension
Compression
Modes of Failure
Design Considerations
Buckling
Radius of Gyration
Euler Buckling Load
End Constraints
Short Columns
Johnson Parabola Approach
