My students love reviewing for a test using a Jeopardy style review game! This is 2 powerpoint games of 63 slides each. Each game has 6 categories and there are 5 questions in each category.
This was written for my Biology I class. It covers the chemistry and biochemistry concepts typically found at the beginning of any Biology I text. I use these review games when teaching
my unit on biochemistry to first year biology students.
NOTE: This product is included in my Biochemistry Complete Unit Plan Bundle which can be viewed here:
Biochemistry Bundled Unit Plan
Here is an outline of what is included in the first game:
I. The Nature of Matter: Atoms, elements, compounds
II. Chemical Bonding: ionic bonds, covalent bonds, polar and nonpolar molecules
III. The Importance of Water to Biology: The polarity of water, hydrogen bonding, solutions and suspensions, reasons why water makes life on earth possible, acids, bases, pH, and buffers.
Here is what is included in the second game:
I. Organic Compounds: Definition, characteristics of carbon, macromolecules
II. Carbohydrates: Characteristics of carbohydrates, how to recognize them, functions or uses of carbs, the sugar molecules, starch, glycogen, cellulose
III. Lipids: Characteristics of lipids, how to recognize the lipid molecules, saturated and unsaturated fats, fatty acids and glycerol, uses of lipids.
IV. Nucleic Acids: This section is very brief and is only an overview of what a nucleic acid is.
V. Proteins: Characteristics of a protein, structure of amino acids, how to recognize an amino acid, the uses of proteins.
VI. Enzymes: Facts about enzymes, equation for how an enzyme works, lock and key hypothesis, active site, substrates.
My materials are easily adaptable. You can easily delete questions and add some of your own.
Please download the free preview. It consists of the first 15 slides of one of the games. Thanks for looking!
