Blends with Consonant L Literacy Station Word Work

This includes a student choice board with files and directions for accompanying station activities and a formative assessment.

The stations include activites such as a word search, blends and chunks game, Flower Power Clue game, Bingo, and more. These stations are designed to be used for one week where students select one station per day or could also be used for two weeks in which all stations will be completed by the end of two week period.

Station 1: Book - Students create their own l blends book by writing sentences using the concept. There is a place to add illustrations.

Station 2: L Blends Clue Game - Read the clues and guess the l blends word. Label and illustrate.

Station 3: L Blends Bingo- Students label each picture. Then they color all l blend words. Did they find a bingo?

Station 4: Flower Power- Write a clue for an l blend word on each flower petal. Draw the picture that shows the word on the back of the petal. Assemble the l blends flower and see if your friends can guess your words!

Station 5: L Blends Word Search

Station 6: Pound, Tap, and Stamp - Students look at each picture. They say the word out loud while pounding their fist on the table. They use their fingers to tap out each sound. Then they stamp those letters to spell the word!

Station 7: Blends and Chunks Game - Play in pairs or small groups. Choose an l blends card and a word ending card. Did you make a word? Each word counts as a point!

Station 8: L Blends Slider - Cut the blends strip off and slide it through your paper to create words.

Station 9: Make it, Paint, it, Tear it! - Students may create any l blend item by painting a picture, torn paper art, or by using various art materials to come up with their own creative masterpiece. They use their creation as inspiration to write a fiction or non-fiction story.

The open nature of the activities allows for differientiated levels to be met with your students while working on the same concept.
