This open-ended activity walks students through the process of reading a book with a partner. Students pick a book and plan their reading pace and meeting times. They then use comprehension strategies to facilitate the book discussions. The Book Buddies activity culminates in the pair creating a final project that conveys a summary of the text. I have found this extremely useful - especially during times of the year when your regular reading schedule is interrupted (i.e. before holidays, testing weeks, end of school year).
Please note: Slide 3 can be reproduced as many times as you expect the students to meet.
