This resource can be used in a variety of ways. One popular way to read different genres is to spread them out throughout the school year - doing a different genre each month or so. Students will soon know what is expected and things should run smoothly by the second or third book.

In order to facilitate exploration of the genres, both the guided book reports and the projects on the project choice grids have been tailored for each genre. For example, the Historical Fiction report focuses more on the setting, while the Mystery report focuses more on plot and the Realistic Fiction report is focused more on the main character.

These will print out fine in color or grayscale. The entire packet is offered in both PDF and Word formats for easy editing.

I would suggest trying a different browser. If that does not work, send me an email at reallyrachel@gmail.com and I will send it to you directly.

Hi! I love your work! It is very thorough and thought provoking, and I appreciate that much of it can be transferred to other books/subjects. May I ask where you get your artwork/graphics? I am new to tpt and am trying to get a handle on how to make my ideas "look good on paper" and not just in my brain. :)
Thanks so much!
Karla :)

Hi Karla,
I get a lot of it here: http://www.clker.com/
It is royalty free, so free to use. I also use clip art from MS office and every so often, I make my own. If you wan the really cute stuff that you see on K-1 products, you will probably have to pay.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Most of my teaching experience is with gifted and talented students in grades 2-4, though I have worked with children of all ages in general education classrooms as well. A few years ago I stopped teaching in order to write nonfiction children's books full time. Gradually over the last couple of years, my career has switched from writing to creating teaching materials here on Teacher Pay Teacher. I love creating teaching products (most recently task cards) and feel just as passionate about my work now as I did when I was teaching. I also love knowing that my products help thousands of teachers and reach tens of thousands of students.
