A farm theme is used to help students hear the "bossy r" sound in words such as barn, farmer, tractor, horse, and so on. There are two printable practice work pages for students at the paperclips in the lesson. There is a 5-page student handout for students to create their own bossy-r farm pictures on large construction paper. Included is a game, center, and additional work pages.

Also included: a bossy-r work page for the picture book: Basil's Birds.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a National Board Certified teacher, with 28 years of teaching experience in grades 1-5. All my lessons in Power Point are also in Notebook for SMART Board. I have been a lesson plan writer and reviewer for the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). My first teaching job was in Waseca, MN, in 1973. I taught elementary grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and gifted education classes. From 1994-2010, I taught for the Wayzata Public School District in Minnesota, and am now retired.
