This activity contains 7 mini-lessons for building words, practicing spelling, and reviewing vocabulary. Each mini-lesson has word tiles for the seven reading comprehension strategies: asking questions, determining importance, inferring, making connections, summarizing, synthesizing, and visualizing. Each mini-lesson includes: a page of letter strips to reproduce for students, large letters for posting on the blackboard or on a pocket chart, and 10 questions to build words with the sentence strips.

I use these on Fridays with my struggling readers in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. They are challenging for them, but I love how hard they have to work. The clues are great and really raise the expectations from just trying to see how many words they can make from the letters. Thank you for such an wonderful product!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching full-time for 11 years, and have taught from grades 5 - 8. I currently have a 5/6 class. I teach all subject areas.
