This is an Inclusion Demonstration Activity for Grades 6-9 and would be great at "Back to School" time, for a Health class, a unit on discrimination or if bullying is an issue in your class.
It's called "Find a Group." Students go through this demo (silently) in which one or two students are unjustly excluded from the class. When the demo is over, a discussion follows as well as a written reflection.
I have provided step-by-step instructions for the demostration, as well as a copy of the questions for students to guide the written reflection.
If you want to begin to build a more positive classroom climate and open the doors of communication - you'll love this activity.

I have been teaching for 6 years now. I currently teach Grade 7 Math, Social Studies, Language Arts, and Health but I have taught grades 3 to 9, multiple subjects. My passion is teaching Math, for sure. I love the challenges that middle school students bring to the room every day. It's a very special age to be a part of. They teach me so much.
