This lesson is a great way to introduce Caldecott Medal winning books and/or generate excitement about Caldecott books. I have used this lesson with 3-6 grades when studying the books and the illustrators of the books. The students have a lot of fun with this. It can be used as a team or individual activity. Both ways are very effective. In addition, it is also great to do this before studying the history of the Caldecott Medal.
