PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Canada! Learn about our neighbor to the north!

Includes a fantastic 10-page complex text to use when teaching social studies.

This is a complete unit for teaching about Canada with informational text, anticipation guide with questions to guide their reading, a 30 question quiz with answer key, and a fun “scrapbook” activity with a grading rubric.

"Canada: Our Neighbor to the North" is a 10-page informational text packet that can be used as a "textbook chapter" when teaching about Canada. In the packet, your students will learn about the land, water, climate, products, natural resources, landmarks, government, money, and culture of Canada.

While these materials were written to correspond to Florida's Next Generation Sunshine State Standards for 3rd grade Social Studies when I couldn't find anything else appropriate for my students, "Canada: Our Neighbor to the North" is also perfect for 4th, 5th, or 6th graders studying the countries of North America.

Florida Sunshine State Standards Addressed:
SS.3.G.2.1: Label the countries and commonwealths in North America (Canada, United States, Mexico) and in the Caribbean (Puerto Rico, Cuba, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica).
SS.3.G.2.4: Describe the physical features of the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
SS.3.G.2.5: Identify natural and man-made landmarks in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
SS.3.G.3.1: Describe the climate and vegetation in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
SS.3.G.3.2: Describe the natural resources in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
SS.3.G.4.1: Explain how the environment influences settlement patterns in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
SS.3.G.4.2: Identify the cultures that have settled the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
SS.3.E.1.4: Distinguish between currencies used in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
