This is a list of websites that is useful for grades 6-12 Social Studies. The sites are great for students who are completing research projects (such as heritage fair). They're all reputable and contain excellent Canadian content.
I have found that students waste so much time mindlessly putting topic ideas into search engines and this time doesn't always result in reliable information. This list of sites helps to narrow students' focus in their research which gives them more time to actually learn.
Sites include all aspects of Canadian history - famous Canadians, wars, sports, Confederation, The Fur Trade etc...
If you're starting Heritage Fair for the first time, this is a great place for you and your students to start.

I have been teaching for 6 years now. I currently teach Grade 7 Math, Social Studies, Language Arts, and Health but I have taught grades 3 to 9, multiple subjects. My passion is teaching Math, for sure. I love the challenges that middle school students bring to the room every day. It's a very special age to be a part of. They teach me so much.
