"Captain's Crew" is a fun activity that reinforces "r" controlled vowels. (er, ir, ur, or, ar) Students will identify pirates with "r" controlled words. Then the students can record their findings on the sheet included in the packet. Enjoy! ARRGGH!
I was looking for more r controlled vowel activities and came across your activity. I will be introducing a game on Tuesday I made for r controlled vowels using the exact same clip art! This will go along great with it! Thanks!
Hi Kerrie! I am a 40 year old mom majoring in Elementary Education at the University of South Alabama. I stumbled across your free lessons on Pinterest and love your work! I will be using some of your ideas in a Teaching Reading course with a 2nd Grade student I am tutoring. I appreciate you sharing your creativity. I was also pleasantly surprised to see you are from Laurel, Ms, as I am originally from Petal! What a small world. Thanks again for sharing your wonderful lessons!

Thanks Christie! TPT is a wonderful resource for teachers! I love sharing ideas with others, but I love seeing everyone else's ideas even more! Stop by my blog sometime! whoosinfirst.blogspot.com (I work with a few girls from Petal!)

Do you have the students sort the pictures all at once, or do you have them do one at a time like all of the er pictures, then ir, ur, etc?
Thanks! This is adorable!
I saw your posting on the Sellers Forum page of Teachers Pay Teachers; so, I thought I would look at your freebie. You've done an excellent job!
Here are a few suggestions that might help you to better market your products. Add a second page which is a directions (make them complete) or a suggestions page. List several ways you use this product in your classroom. (What do you do with the cards? How is the ship a part of it? Is this a center activity? Etc.) Never assume that a buyer knows how, why, or when to use your product.
I know you put your name and date of creation on EVERY page of your product, but also include the copyright symbol. You can find it by pressing insert and symbol should appear on the far right. Click on symbol and you should see it there. Items, especially free ones, have been "stolen" from TPT and posted on other sites to be sold. You have to protect all of your creations. Also, number your pages.
If you have time, I’d would love to have your input on one of my freebies listed below.
