I have used both The Hunger Games and Catching Fire teaching units and they are fantastic! There is a nice variety of activities and the students are constantly engaged. They are working with higher level thinking skills and they barely consider it work!

This is a great CD :) I just finished the Hunger Games unit from Tracee as well and it was AMAZING!!!! I can't wait to incorporate these activities in as well :) My only suggestion is to add an "order of activities" page to this disk, much like the one in the HG disk. It was so helpful! :)

I bought the HG and Catching Fire units this year. Tracey, you made my job much easier. Although I teach spec ed, I was able to make appropriate accommodations and changes so that my students just couldn't stop reading it!Love it! Thanks Again!

I think I'm missing from the CD I ordered some files. I have a file for Part I activities, but I can't find activities on the CD for Parts II and III in the book. Some of the screen shots from the "download preview" are not in any of the files on the CD. Is it possible that something is missing?

I will check the CD, but I am pretty sure you have everything. The "Part I" activities are just a separate document from the discussion questions & I pulled the vocab into it. After part I, the document was getting way too large, so I separted them into: discussion question, check questions, and vocabulary. You have the same questions, quizzes, and vocab for Parts II & III, they just aren't combined into one document. I should probably just delete the Part I so it's not confusing.

I haven't received my order yet because I JUST ordered it. Let me say, though, that the choice to order was not a hard one to make. I ordered the Hunger Games CD to use when I taught the first book in the trilogy earlier this semester. When my students were BEGGING me to let them read the second book, I had no hesitations in ordering this unit to use as a resource for teaching the second book. I started to order the smaller unit just so I could get it sooner (before spring break next week), but for the value, the CD is a no-brainer. Thanks for your hardwork, Tracee, and for being willing to share it with us!

5kids1dog--I think it can be done, but it'll be harder. There are quite a few little things that are left out of the movie (I'm assuming they'll watch the movie first?). I have transfer students who came in and are doing fine with Catching Fire without reading book 1, but still had to explain who characters like Madge, Mayor Undersee, and Greasy Sae are. Also, the whole Avox thing is left out of movie. But I do not think it is impossible and is an option if you are cramped for time to read both. I hope that helps!

Tracee, what is the difference between your Catching Fire $12 unit and $30 unit? I'm assuming more material, but what exactly? Also, do you have any powerpoints for Catching Fire like you do for The Hunger Games? I loved your first teaching set so I was curious if it was similar. Thanks!

Thank you so much, and see above for the answers. :) Also, I forgot to address whether they are similar--yes, they are pretty similar EXCEPT I streamlined a lot of the "extras" into the discussion questions. Like the figurative language, the projects and extended activities, the quotes, the playlist activity, reviews--those are not separate files but all included with the discussion questions to make it easier for you to see when to use each.

I've had a chance to look again at the CD contents, and I'm pretty sure the activities for parts two and three are missing from the disk. For example, in the preview that I downloaded, I see two pages that I have yet to find on the CD. One page has a leaf with "tick tock" all over the page. Another page I've not found on the CD has pictures of neti pots and a monkey. Is there any way you can tell me the name of the file I might find these documents under?
