Here are six different activities to help students practice identifying cause and effect relationships! The activities included are:
1. Cause & Effect Illustration
2. Cause & Effect Chain
3. Cause & Effect Match
4. Cause & Effect Chart
5. Cause & Effect in Informational Text (Weathering)
6. Cause & Effect Scavenger Hunt
I also included two extra graphic organizers for students to identify cause and effect relationships in both fictional and informational text. The graphic organizer for fictional text goes with the story, Ordinary Mary's Extraordinary Day. The other graphic organizer would be used with any articles on Hurricane Sandy. I threw those in as extra pieces, as I just created them and used them in my classroom. :-)
For many of the activities, I made a Teacher Notes page where I identified any materials you need for the activity, as well as any information I think may be helpful to you!
In addition, I included a Cause and Effect Learning Contract cover in the event you would like to do the activities in a learning contract structure. I added some notes on how I structure contract time in my classroom.
Some of the activities have more than one direction sheet to accommodate two different ways of doing the activity, which would be teacher preference!
If you buy the product, you are welcome to send me an email, and I'll be happy to forward you the 26-page document in Word format if you prefer that over PDF! (firstname.lastname@example.org)
The students really enjoy these activities, and they offer a more engaging approach to practice this skill compared to traditional worksheets!! :-)
