I only give a B for practicality because making a day book of 30 pages for all 30 kids is near impossible but i love the idea of having the bday boy/girl bringing in their favorites items!

My students made star student books, which is the same concept as this, when I had a large class (32 first graders). There's actually an easy way to make this book when you have a large class. On the days when you are celebrating a birthday, the birthday book assignment takes the place of your writing journal assignment for that day. The years I didn't have parent volunteers, I stapled the book together. The years that I had dependable parent volunteers, I laminated the front and back covers and had the volunteer bind my books together.

Good question! I've done it two different ways. I have celebrated half-birthdays when I have a large number of summer birthdays. Example: a student born on June 6th would celebrate his/her half-birthday on Dec. 6th. Or I've assigned each student with a summer birthday, a special day the last month of school. I only use this way if I have a small number of students with summer birthdays.
