This powerpoint contains four days of lessons. If you buy the Membrane/Diffusion Test that is a companion to it, then you have your lessons done for the week! The lessons include six optional teacher demonstrations, and one student "foldable" activity. Each lesson has multiple pictures and animations to illustrate the topic. (Some animations are imbedded in the powerpoint, while others are links to online animations.)
Day 1 covers the nature of the cell membrane, including the concepts of the lipid bilayer and the fluid mosaic model. It includes animations and 2 optional teacher demonstrations.
Day 2 covers the concept of diffusion, and facilitated diffusion, including the concept of a semipermeable membrane. It includes animations and 3 optional teacher demonstrations.
Day 3 covers the concept of osmosis. It includes animations.
Day 4 covers the concept of active transport. It includes animations, 1 optional teacher demonstration, and 1 student activity.
Note: In the newest version of this powerpoint, there is an AIM in between days three and four with no lesson attached. On this day, I had my students do a "gummy bear osmosis" activity. This activity is not mine, but can be found at the following web address: http://www.science-class.net/Lessons/Osmosis/gummy_osmosis.pdf
