Changes In The Earth Science Guide

Science Readers Science Guides are designed to support you, the teacher, in your classroom. These valuable guides are available for and specific to each Student Reader in the series.

Every Science Guide begins by identifying the applicable National Science Education Standard, the science category (earth, life, physical, etc.), the focus and objectives of the unit, and which other units in the series are directly related to it.

The Science Guide then offers implementation support in key areas through these tools:

Introduction - Detailed discussion and suggestions of how to introduce the topic to students.

Key Concepts - Identification of the most important ideas presented in the Student Reader.

Hands-On Activity - Simple activities that help get students "doing" science.

Extended Activities - Longer term experiments that the class experiences together.

Assessment - A black-line quiz master is included, complete with answer key and Parent Resource Section that includes follow-up questions parents can use to determine with students have mastered the concepts presented.
