What could be better than spending a whole week using a story about a chocolate factory to teach the common core standards?! This sweet literacy unit focuses on character analysis, character traits, story elements, and story structure using the classic children's book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. It includes printables to cover each of these comprehension strategies and anchor chart examples. A writing activity is included for each day of the 5-day unit, including poetry, narratives, and a how-to essay. Some of the writing activities incorporate art. ABC order, Read the Room for ch- words, and making words from chocolate printables are included. A comprehension test closes the unit at the end of the week.
The unit also is packed with some fun math activities and math tubs:
-story problems
-graphing favorite candy bars
-chocolate fractions
-M&M sort and patterns
-Everlasting Gobstopper Addition Sort
-Lollipop Lane {an addition and subtraction game}
-Color the Sum

What kind of addition and subtraction problems are there? Is it 1 digit, 2-digit or 3-digit problems? I teach 2nd grade and 1-digit is too basic for my kiddos. Thanks for your help!!
This packet is one-digit. Mine always need that fluency practice so that's why I put it in that packet. I do that unit earlier in the year. I'll consider adding double and triple when I update that packet. So sorry! Thanks!

There seems to be an error on #7 on the quiz. Two "nots".
Okay! Thanks for letting me know! I will get it fixed and re-upload it!

Hi, I purchased your unit this summer. We just did the contraction matching game today. On page 40, I think there is a mistake. There was not a match for she is but there were 2 isn't cards in the pack. Just wanted to let you know. Thanks for the unit. I have had a hard time finding Charlie and the Choclate Factory things for my first graders. Your unit has been helpful. Dawn
Ooops! I will fix it and upload it for you again. It will notify you when it's ready. I should have it back up by tomorrow! Thanks for letting me know!

Or are their certain pages that you could email to me? For example the timeline page just says timeline at the top and at the bottom is just a bunch of dark lines (thick bar type). I have no idea? Normally when I buy things off here, I have never had this problem.
Thanks so much! :)

I just paid for your unit and several of the pages had these black lines on them. Do you know what might be causing this problem? Some pages were fine but others were not. Or if there was another way to get the unit and try it again?
Thanks,
Jennifer Neal
It sounds like you need to download the latest version of Adobe. That should work for both of your products. If that does not work, contact TPT support. I hope that helps! Thank you!!!
I am sorry, but no. The unit is mostly for ELA. I just included math tubs to use for the week you teach the unit. I hope that makes sense! Thank you! :)

This is absolutely precious!! Do you have anything with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Language Arts and Writing!!??? WOULD LOVE TO HAVE IT!!!!
Thank you so much! There are a few writing and language components in the unit, but I will definitely consider adding more to it this summer. If you have any ideas of what you would like to see, feel free to e-mail me. I will just add those components to the current unit and then notify buyers so you can just re-download it with the updates. Thanks!

Hi Tiffany! I just purchased your Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Unit. It is fabulous!! I am having a problem printing it out. I saved it as a pdf and printed and it still didn't work. Do you have any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks!
This sounds like you may need to download the latest version of Adobe Reader. You may also contact TPT for help. They can tell you how to resolve the issue. Thanks!
