Chasing Vermeer Reading Comprehension Activity Guide
This is a reading comprehension activity guide and answer key for Chasing Vermeer by Blue Balliett. This guide contains 35 pages of activities (79 total pages including the answer key, assessments, and scoring rubrics).
Chasing Vermeer is a story about two sixth graders (Petra Andalee and Calder Philly) who try to use their problem-solving skills to uncover the mystery behind a missing painting. But, you will need to figure out what pentominoes have to do with the mystery, why there are so many coincidences, why a frog appears in the story so much, who received the three letters, and who Ms. Hussey (the teacher) really is...
This is one of the most comprehensive reading packets you will find directly related to this book. Included are comprehension questions for each chapter with an emphasis on reading strategies such as visualizing, summarizing, predicting, making connections, and many more. Also included is a list of key vocabulary words broken down by chapter. Grading rubrics are included for assessing your students' understanding of the key reading strategies, end of the novel extension activities, and for the comprehension guide itself.
The Reading Common Core Standards that are met are as follows: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

I was happy to see that you have answers to your comprehension questions unlike some teaching materials I have received. It looks really good. I can't wait to start trying it tomorrow. The only suggestion I would make would be to have numbered the pages.
