Teach your students about holiday traditions and customs around the globe with our Holidays Around the World unit.
Each holiday/country in this unit is introduced through an interactive reader you copy and hand out to students. Students read along with you, in pairs, or independently, to learn about how each country celebrates their holiday. Most pages in the reader are interactive, meaning, after the student reads the page, they need to add something to the picture.
Examples include:
"Draw the treats Elise might receive in her shoes"
"Draw the porridge in front of Nisse so he doesn't play any Christmas tricks!"
This unit will really get your students involved in your Holidays Around the World unit this year!
Countries and Holidays in this Unit:
USA Christmas
USA Kwanzaa
USA Hanukkah

The students LOVED this unit and went home sharing the information they learned on many occassions! We showcased our work at our Holiday Open House and parents loved seeing what the students were learning and were quit impressed at the thoroughness of each stop in our passport. Fun unit, will be doing again next year....Thank you!
I'm so happy to hear what a success this unit was for you on so many levels! Thanks for taking the time to leave such detailed feedback. We really appreciate it!

My students LOVED this unit! It was so fun to "travel" around the world and learn about different customs. We took your suggestion and pretended that we were flying and we watched a short video clip about the country while we were "flying" our in flight movie. The packets had just enough information to finish in an hour block.
I enjoyed this unit but think my students did even more! We enjoyed spending some time each day learning about a new country! This will be added to my resources of Holidays Around the World and will be used in years to come! Thanks for creating such a wonderful unit!

Hi there! I am very excited to start using this, however I am not sure about something. In the unit on the itinerary and on the cover of the book you say Christmas in Africa. However, in the story the child lives in South Africa, and the flag you put on the label is for South Africa. South Africa is a country on the continent of Africa. Do you actually mean Christmas in South Africa? The label with the South African flag says Africa, but I believe it should say South Africa, as should the other items. Can you clear up for me what you are intending? I was going to make up my own label for South Africa and cover for South Africa, but if you meant those instead and are able to revise, that would be much easier! Thank you! (And I hope I make sense - if I didn't explain clearly, just let me know.) :)
I just purchased this and am very excited about using it in the next couple of weeks with my students. However I am trying to figure out how to make the sheets into a booklet. This looks to be put together differently than I have seen most booklets done. If I copy back to back and fold the papers in half it does not appear to be in the correct order. Can you explain how you have these assembled?
The booklets are not designed to be printed back to back. They should be copied, cut down the middle and stapled. We ran into issues with back to back booklets in the past, and purposely designed them this way. Down the road we may make them back to back as an option, but not at this time. We hope you have great success with this unit in your classroom! Happy Holidays! ~Halle and Jenna

Hello! I just purchased your Christmas Around the World unit and it is so cute! I can't wait to use it in my class in the coming weeks. I just noticed one little thing. In the USA section Hanukkah is spelled wrong. You spelled it with only one "k". I wanted to let you know. Thank you again for the unit and all of your hard work!
I thought that was an acceptable version of the word! At least according to Microsoft office it is! Thanks for your kind words and for pointing it out. I will fix ASAP.

We're grade partners and great friends! We are in our third year of teaching 2nd grade together. Between the two of us, we previously taught middle school, special ed, and third grade.
