I use a token economy as well. I love your idea of the scorecard that they keep. ;) I'm glad that I'm not the only one that makes them pay me as well! ;)
Hi Danielle!
At the beginning of the year, we make our "promise" to each other. Here is a blog post about that promise we make to each other: http://lessonplansos.blogspot.com/2011/08/classroom-promise.html
Students can get a debit by doing or saying anything that would break this promise. This pretty much can include any disrespectful behavior that can happen- anywhere from not being on task to hurting someone's feelings. At the beginning of the year, the students also were the ones who "helped" me decide on the rewards and the consequences (other than the debits, more "serious" ones!). This helped to instill ownership of the rules that we added to our promise.
I hope that this helps!
Have a great night,
melissa :)
