Learning to set goals is a powerful skill that most of us were never taught in school. Yet, knowing how to set goals can mean the difference between success and failure for many students. Classroom Goal Setting describes a program that will help you teach your students to set goals for themselves and become responsible for their own learning. Though I'll still have to modify parts of it to meet the needs of my students and their goals (I don't see/keep all of my kids all day--we level for math and language arts so I can't track their progress with other teachers and my colleagues aren't interested in doing this right now), it's still a fabulous resource! Sorry to hear that. Without knowing exactly how you implemented the program, I couldn't begin to guess why. It worked for me for many years in my classroom and really motivated my students. Their parents enjoyed seeing their progress portfolios, too. I'm not sure how much of the program you implemented, but it does take time and effort to implement it fully.
