I get a lot of questions about my classroom design. Hope this helps to explain my thinking in how I set up my classroom.
The following pictures show views of my classroom that I took while standing in the loft. There are also pictures of each of my center areas. I divide my class into 5 groups called �families�. These are children that work well together-all levels of academic placement. The groups visit one of the 5 literacy center areas each day of the week. Within their area, they have the freedom to choose whichever center they would like to work in. The play center is only open in the afternoon when we have choice centers. At that time they may choose from any of their literacy centers or their play center.
There is also a spreadsheet at the end that lists the center areas and what is in each area. The other spreadsheet shows how I have made sure that each area of my room has an opportunity for children to read, write, and make words.

I only have 2 kidney tables and one square table. My kids like to work on the floor with lap boards!
