The Cold War Graphic Short Story is a worksheet that requires analytical thinking, yet looks simple and students love it. It asks students to create their own list of (1) events during the Cold War; and (2) events that led to the end of the Cold War. The first worksheet begins with the end of World War II in Europe, and the division between East and West in 1945. The second worksheet ends with the election of Boris Yeltsin and the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. You can use this with my "The Cold War in a Nutshell" lesson plan/worksheets if you wish. The very act of choosing the events and illustrating them forces students to think about how the events connect together.
Students who are artists or kinesthetic learners really enjoy this activity.
