College-Ready Self-Monitoring Survey

Our nation is desperate for more college graduates and it depends on every elementary, middle, and high school to get students ready. We have created a simple tool that forces students to be reflective, realistic, and responsible. Our self-monitoring survey requires students to create goals and monitor their progress. Classrooms or entire schools that are committed to nurturing college readiness can use this tool as a springboard for class discussions (high expectations, appropriate behavior, rigor, grading, etc.) and connecting to relevant activities. Students will complete a pre, mid, and post survey at developmentally appropriate times during the school year. Entire schools can plan enrichment activities that promote college readiness. The message that this tool promotes is universally urgent and can easily be combined with any program to significantly improve your students' chances at graduating from college. Studies report that young people who are constantly focused on getting prepared for college are more likely to demonstrate appropriate behaviors and make academic gains. This tool can also be shared with parents to increase their awareness about supporting schools and promoting college readiness in the home. Every future college graduate in our elementary, middle, and high schools can carry a year-long practical tool that helps them to "keep their eyes on the prize".
