This high-interest lesson plan allows teachers to effectively teach the Common Core Opinion writing standards to 5th grade students. The lesson comes with a teacher manual, student guideline, an anchor paper, and more! Items such as a topic sentence, support reasons, and a valid conclusion are addressed. Students are pushed to utilize high-level vocabulary while effectively stating their opinions and backing them up with convincing, supporting reasons. This assignment can also lead to great discussions and debates in the classroom!

I have taught 6th grade for 8 years at both the middle school and elementary school setting. I am GATE-certified and enjoy incorporating choice into my lessons. I work with 1st and 4th graders as well during the summers. I love working with children and learn from them every day!
