Hello,

I know the Common Core is confusing. Ohio is one of the states that has adopted the Common Core so these discussion stems would be perfect for you!

The Common Core State Standards are shifting the way teachers think about, plan, and execute reading instruction. LessonPop’s flipbooks not only help teachers understand each standard, they help scaffold their questioning and deepen students' understanding of literature and informational text.
Each grade-specific book features two levels of discussion stems for each grade specific standard. The first level of questions is designed to build the foundation of the standard. The second is designed to deepen understanding while encouraging turn and talk opportunities. Both sets of questions require students to use text-based evidence when answering, can be used as written response questions or answered orally and can be used in whole or small groups. Sample performance tasks are also provided for each standard, as well as bonus critical thinking questions. The book functions as a "two-in-one" flip book; flip one way for Reading Literature, flip the other way for Reading Informational Text.
Hope this helps!

Hi, I would love to get a closer look at this but it is so small I can't see it. Is there any way to send me a preview?

I just found your first grade set. I am a first/second grade teacher and I would like to see a sample of this before purchasing such an expensive item.

Thanks
Tracy

Sure, I fully understand. Please send me your email address to barb@lessonpop.com I'll be more than happy to send you a sampling of both of those grade levels so you can get a better idea of the discussion stems.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

During my 24 years of teaching, I have had a variety of positions and have taught grades K-6. My favorite grade to teach is fourth. Developing curriculum for a study skills/social skills was the most challenging and dropout prevention was the most rewarding. I have also been a reading trainer for my school district and worked as an online instructional designer developing eLearning content for teachers.
