This math exploration focuses on Factors and Prime Factorization.
The higher level thinking of this exploration focuses on using prime factorization to manipulate prime factors to come up wtih all of the factors of a given number. The lessons in this exploration scaffold strategies for finding all factors of a number.
The download contains 10 teacher pgs of questions and scaffolding to display on the smartboard or print off to guide your lessons, 20 1/2 sheets for student math journals, (or for making a booklet), 3 pgs where students consider whether or not a number is a multiple of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9, and 9 pgs of information and common core alignment for the teacher. The product contains the question set for the exploration, then future questions/student sheets can be used for further addressing the concept, math stations/rotations, warm-ups, partner discussions, etc. Later sheets can be used as informal assessments of students' grasp on the concepts or for spiral review later in the year.
