These Math Word problems were designed with the Common Core in mind! They were made to use in the fall in a first grade classroom, but could also be used for extention in kindergarten or remediation in second grade. These ten problems can stand alone or work with the Common Core Math Problems set. (They follow the exact same formats)

Thank you for your feedback! I struggled with this over and over. I actually had clip art on it before I tried it out on a first grader. The reason I removed it is that in Common Core students are expected to be able to not only solve the problems, but also to explain their answers as well. Because first graders often explain themselves in pictures this time of year, I did not want to influence or confuse their answers with anything I put on to make it cuter or fancier. So that is why they may look a little plain.

Teaching has always been in my heart. I have been teaching for the past 18 years and have experience in teaching grades 1-5. I have taught multi-age and looping classrooms as well as traditional classes. I have been lucky that 15 years of my experience has included first grade which is my first love! I am a member of the International Society of Technology Education and a Promethean Board user.
