PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The fifth grade Common Core Math standard Geometry 4 states that students will classify polygons into a hierarchy based on attributes. This lesson is to introduce students to the concept of a hierarchy and give them practice using a tree to visualized the relationships among polygons using this type of graphic organizer. The resulting project makes a great bulletin board display.

You are paving the way with your attempt at creating a model for an age-appropriate highly rigorous grade level concept. Your model is creative. Very difficult otherwise to find on internet searches for gr. 4 and 5 students. Thank you.

It is a very creative lesson. The trees accuracy could be improved. It would be better if it showed quads: then branch off with parallelograms, trapezoids, and kite. Then from parallelogram have rectangle and rhombus branch off. Then from rectangle a square, and also from rhombus a square. This a huge concept on my core. Students also need to know that equilateral triangles share some properties of Isosceles. Cute idea though, and only a buck.
