If your state is moving to the common core standards, this resource will really come in handy. I have included standard cards for teachers and students. The teacher format is the actual standard. The student format is in student friendly language. Hang these up in your room and use them to plan your instruction and learning goals. This packet includes math and reading standards for teachers and students.
The original purchaser is granted permission to reproduce these pages in unlimited quantities for their OWN classroom use. Duplication for an entire grade level, school, school system or for commercial purposes is strictly forbidden. If you wish to purchase a set for your grade level or entire school, please add the multiple user option at checkout.
File updated on January 21, 2012 with corresponding numbers on student card to match standard number on teacher card.
If I could give A+ for this I would! This was one of my go to guides all year - especially when posting grades and the standard the assignment went under! Thank you tons!

Attractive and well written for the students understanding of the Common Core learning goals. Thank you.
I display these cards in my classroom for the standards we are working on for the week. They are easy to understand for the students but also look good for administration and others that come to evaluate your classroom.

Please change font for math portion of common core standards cards, I just purchased and it printed mumbo-jumbo! Thanks.
Hi! The font is fine for me. Since the file is a PDF, the font is locked so it should not change. You might need to update your Adobe Reader. This can cause problems with printing and viewing.

Hi,
I really like how you made the standards into smaller sized kid friendly cards. I was wondering if you were going to update the standards since math has changed?
I have already purchased the common core pack. I want to purchase 5 more licenses through my school PO. How do I do this? It won't let add to my cart now that I have already purchased it.
I am not sure how to do this. I looked under items I had already purchased and I didn't have that option either. You will probably have to contact TPT support. Since it is new to purchase the multiple user licenses, they will probably have to guide you through the steps, especially since you are using a PO. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Contact Us. They usually get back to you very quickly. I hope that helps. Please email me at swimmingintosecond@att.net if you have any more questions. Thanks Retha!

I would like to print these at my school but pay for them using my home computer. Is it possible to do that and can I print a few pages at a time or do I have to print all the pages at once?
Yes, you can do that. You can access TPT from almost any computer. Once you are signed into your account, you just need to go to "My Purchases" and download them. You can print as many pages at a time as you wish. The only restrictions I have are each purchase is just for one classroom and may not be duplicated for others. You can print them for your classroom as many times as you need.

I have downloaded your common core standards for reading, math, and writing. Do you have these for science and social studies?
Hello! There actually aren't any common core standards for science and social studies at this time. My state (TN) is still using state standards for these areas. I do have TN standards available but not any others.
Is there any way to get these so that only one standard is on the page? I'd like to post them in my classroom so that they can be viewed by students and I can use post it notes to unpack or explain the standards. Thanks!
Hi Barbara! I don't have them available in that format. I've already sold many in the other format so I'm not sure it would be worth my time to change it.

I am having a smaller image on top of the same larger image ... I have installed a new zip program and am still having this problem. I purchased these last fall and was excited to see you had added the standards, but this image problem is showing on the updated standards that I've printed... not all, just some. Any ideas? Love these!
Hi! It's probably because you need to update Adobe Reader. It does this when it needs updated. Let me know if this doesn't fix the problem by emailing me at swimmingintosecond@att.net.

I recently purchased the student version of the CCS for second grade for $6.50 and am now interested in just the teacher version. How do I purchase it?
Thanks,
Scottie Yarboro
Hi Scottie! I only sell these together so I am not sure that you purchased it from me. If you did, they should be together in the pack that you downloaded.

Hi, I purchased this set and downloaded them at home to then print at school. When I printed them,(the student friendly version) some of them are on parts of pages, etc. One even printed in a different language. Any ideas on what happened?
Thank alot! and I am real excited to use them but was real disappointed with the mixup with cardstock.
Hi! I have no idea. I just printed them again myself and it was fine. If it looks okay on the page, then it must be a problem with your computer. Since I used a PDF, the images and things cannot move. I totally understand about wasting cardstock and I am sorry that happened to you.

I cannot get my folder to open. We have downloaded the program to open a compressed file, but still no luck. Any suggestions?
Here's what I usually tell people:
You need an unzipping program to open the file. You can download a free one for a Mac or PC with Winzip.
http://www.winzip.com/win/en/downwz.htm
This will unzip the file and open the PDF.
It should open after that. If it doesn't, I am not really sure what is wrong. No one has mentioned this happening. I would email it to you but it is too big.
Please email me at swimmingintosecond@att.net and let me know if this does not work. Thanks!
Quick question regarding printing...I would need to have these printed at i.e. Kinkos, am I able to have them printed there (copyright concerns-if any)? Also, am I able to edit the document if Florida's requirements are different? Please advise as these look terrific!
Hi Jackie! You could print them at Kinkos as long as you only print them for yourself. You are able to print them for yourself as many times as you need but the packet is only for one individual classroom. This document is not editable due to copyright restrictions. If need be, I could send you the blank template for the standards so you could create your own. Please email me at swimmingintosecond@att.net if you need the blank template. Thanks!

I am trying to do the core requirements for science (florida) and having problems. Would it be breaking a "trade secret" to ask what program you used to create these. I have printed out and laminated all the language art and math I purchased but am now looking to get science and social studies.
Thanks for any help you can provide
Debra
Hi! I used Pages to create them. I can email you my template as a PDF if you send me your email at swimmingintosecond@att.net. All you would need to do is drag it into word and then create a text box to type on top of it (at least I think it's that easy..I'm more familiar with Macs)

HI,
Have you posted the "second none weeks" math assessment for 2nd grade or is it not available? Absolutely LOVED the common core standards for students. I printed them out and laminated. We begin school on Wed. (we are year round) so this stuff is incredibly helpful as we begin using common core this year :) Thanks!
Debra Ohlstein
Hi! I'm not sure if you are thinking of my store but I've never posted a math assessment. I'm glad you enjoy the CC standards cards. Good luck in your new school year!

Do these standards include the elements for each standard also?
Yes. After you have purchased it, it is for your personal use. You can print as many copies as you need for yourself. As long as you are not sharing with anyone else, you are fine. Thanks!

Do you use other clip art besides the little girl?
Hi Courtney, I plan to purchase your common core standards for second grade. I was wondering if any of the pictures included boys or ethnic children? I am new to this site and am enjoying all of the creative and helpful ideas. Thanks for all of your hard work and enjoy your summer. 8 days left in Jacksonville, Florida!
Yes, they do. Boys are included as are some ethnic children. I had to work with what was available but I did try to include different children. Thanks! Hope your year ends wonderfully!

How large is each standard? Are there several on each page?
The common core standards are only available for reading and math. They have not developed common core standards for science and social studies yet. The reading does include writing, grammar, language, speaking, and comprehension skills.
Hi Bethany! If you look under "My purchases," it should be under there. Just click on "Download now" underneath the purchase and it will download for you. It should be an automatic thing after you purchased the product.

It says that I cannot download this because it needs to be unzipped? Help. Please email this to me or tell me how to download this! abone@gwinn.k12.mi.us
Hi! You need an unzipping program to open the file. You can download a free one for a Mac or PC with Winzip.
http://www.winzip.com/win/en/downwz.htm
Please let me know if this doesn't work. I would only be able to email them in a zip format because the file is so big. I can work something out if it doesn't work. Thanks for your purchase!

I have emailed you several times and have gotten no response. I ordered your Common Core Standards and cannot download it. It says your file is corrupt. Please advise. I do not want to lose my money. Thanks...
Hi! I'm sorry but I haven't gotten your emails. I'm not sure what the problem is because I've not heard anything from anyone else. Please leave me your email address and I'll get back to you. I could possibly email them to you. Also, if you could let me know what date that you purchased them, I need to look it up. Thanks!
My email is swimmingintosecond@att.net.
No. I don't at this time. We have not switched over yet. I may possibly do this in the future.

This is my first time buying anything on Teachers Pay Teachers.
After looking through the ELA standards, I have some suggestions and wondering if you could fix something. Could you put the standard label such as RF.2.3.c for the indicators? It would make it easier to keep them in order with the right standard. Also, could you put the standard key in very small font on the bottom right hand corner for the student version so the CC standards that goes with the student version can easily be identified. (I handwrote on all of my copies already.)
I found few errors in the student version. L.2.4.d-->was the words "I can find use..." suppose to be "I can use..."? SL.2.1.b was left out of the student version. In L.2.6, adverbs were left out. In W.2.1, the word "I" is touching the side line so it disappears a bit.
I haven't gotten a chance to look through the math pages yet.
If you do make changes and fix the errors, do I have to buy another copy to get the newest version?
Thanks so much for creating this. I'm so excited to use these in my classroom! :-)
Hello! I'm not really sure what you are asking mostly because I don't have them right in front of me. Do you want the label on the student version or the teacher version? I did fix some of the errors on the 2nd grade version so I'm not sure when you downloaded them. I'll check over them again to make sure. When I make changes, all you have to do is go to your "My Purchases" section of the website and download them again. I'll try to look over them this weekend. Feel free to email me with more questions.
swimmingintosecond@att.net
I'm glad you like them. Welcome and enjoy TPT!
I am wanting to make things for teachers pay teachers and was wondering is there a program you bought or use to create the cute little games and activities? Just wondering how I get started. Thanks for your help!
I use Pages on my Mac. I know other people use Powerpoint to create items for sale. It just takes some time and playing around to figure out how to layer things and you will need to purchase some clipart. Just be sure that it is okay that you use it in items that you sell. Good luck! Feel free to email me with any more questions. courtneybartlett@bellsouth.net
Jennifer- I'm not exactly sure how many downloads I have had of the common core standards. It doesn't show me on my dashboard. But it is my best selling thing in my store.

I purchased this download and am wondering if it's possible to get a copy that is editable? My school prefers we use "I am learning" rather than "I can". Thanks!
I can't do that because it would break my licensing agreements for the clipart. If you give me some time, I can create a version like that for you but it will take a little bit of time.

I am a third grade teacher and I would buy the third grade Common Core standards RIGHT NOW!!! Please let me know if and when you get to those. In the meantime I am using bits and pieces from second grade. Thanks!
Thank you so much! I hope to get them done sometime this semester.

Have you by chance prepared these for other grades? I have a 2/3 split so I would definitely purchase it if you have it for 3rd. Love it! As a mom of 6, I have little time after work to prepare all of this so I rely on amazing teachers such as yourself to get me through. I am using these as my classroom posts! Thanks so much!
I have the 3rd grade set on my to-do list but it will probably not be for a while. Our school only goes K-2 so I didn't prepare them before school started. Now that school has started, I don't have much time. I will try to get them done sometime this semester but I'm not sure exactly when. I'm glad you like my 2nd grade set. Thanks for your purchase!

DO YOU HAVE THE STANDARDS FOR SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES?
They don't have common core standards for science and social studies yet. I do have the cards for the TN standards. I will add the common core standards in science and social studies when they are available.
Hi! In my common core standards packet, it includes the teacher version of the common core standard and the student-friendly version of the standard such as "I can read words with long vowels." All of the standards for reading, writing, and math are included. I hope that helps!
