Worksheet introduces a compare/contrast essay for the selection, The Diary of Anne Frank. This is a summative assessment where students are required to compare the light and dark sides of Anne's nature. They are to support the essay with reactions, both verbal and nonverbal, of other characters to Anne. As she changes throughout the diary, the students need to include supporting examples that show the changing qualities in Anne's own personality. The rubric is used to grade the essay and makes explicit the requirements to the students.
