This three-day lesson is a comparison of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. It reaches a variety of state indicators in the area of nonfiction as well as social studies. Students work as individuals, in pairs, and as a whole group to read for information about past Presidents. Students actively compare and contrast the lives and accomplishments of two great Presidents at an age appropriate level. Annie Graham has created and used this lesson successfully in her own first grade classroom.

I taught for 8 years in our rural public education system. My first two years were spent teaching Reading Recovery and Title One reading. My final 6 years were spent in a wonderful first grade classroom. I recently resigned to homeschool my son and to be at home with our children.
