This unit on Plant Classification was based on Montessori Upper Elementary curriculum materials and were designed to create a manageable system for self-guided student follow-up. Though designed around Montessori materials, these extensions, particularly the Activity Cards and Artistic Expression projects, can be used with other instructional methods with relative ease. When used in the non-Montessori classroom, these materials will provide a wonderful extension for standards-based instruction. Gifted, self-directed and/or highly motivated students will especially love the freedom and creativity these extensions give them.
