(**Actual formatting is intact, regardless of possible thumbnail images)This assignment allows students to keep track of relevant concepts and evidence in a piece of literature in order to create insightful and relevant theme statements. An example is provided. The assignment provides for five mini-analysis- great for students reading a novel. It's easy enough to shorten the assignment for students reading a short story too!

I use this assignment with my Theme lecture notes (listed as "theme introduction") which can also be found in my product listings.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching high school for the past 8 years. Throughout that time, I have taught English in the 9th, 10th, and 11th grades. I have also taught multiple levels of ELD (ESL). In addition to actual "in class experience", I have been a curriculum development specialist for online education through California State University Fullerton (CSUF). I am currently awaiting my scores for National Board Certification (fingers crossed! I find out in November.)
