Contractions Cards (Set 2): 32 Multiple Choice Cards for Spelling Contractions

Here are 32 multiple choice task cards to help your students master the correct spelling of common contractions. A student answer sheet is included along with an answer key for self-checking. There is also a Challenge Card that can be used in conjunction with any other card to extend the activity. These task cards are perfect for test prep and will work well at literacy centers, stations, for partner work, or with the whole class using a game like Scoot.
The cards will look best in color, but will also print out fine in grayscale. Simply print and cut along the guidelines. Laminate and use them again and again. Alternatively, you could print on cardstock. It works well to keep them in a baggie. Another option is to hole-punch a corner of each card and put them all on a ring.
This resource addresses Common Core Standard L.2 for grades 2-4:
L.2. Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing.
Note: This set was designed to focus on the correct spelling of contractions. Contractions Set 1 focuses on selecting the correct contraction to use in a given sentence. You can find this set in my Teachers Pay Teachers Store.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Subject Area:
Most of my teaching experience is with gifted and talented students in grades 2-4, though I have worked with children of all ages in general education classrooms as well. A few years ago I stopped teaching in order to write nonfiction children's books full time. Gradually over the last couple of years, my career has switched from writing to creating teaching materials here on Teacher Pay Teacher. I love creating teaching products (most recently task cards) and feel just as passionate about my work now as I did when I was teaching.
