The Cookie Crumbles Game is designed to help primary students identify the fraction symbols and names (whole, half, and quarter) with the portions that they represent. Introduce and play a few rounds at teacher table then add it to your math centers/tubs.
Included in this game:
1 Cover page
1 Prep and game instructions page
1 copy of game board (print 1 copy per player)
2 pages (12 cookies) to cut into quarters
2 pages (12 cookies) to cut into halves
2 pages (12 cookies) to cut and leave whole
6 pages of fraction cards (whole, half, quarter) and 9 "Crumble!" cards
1 page (15)of optional fraction card backs (print additional copies to cover all cards).
Stack fraction cards face down in a pile.
Place cookie pieces in a nearby group cookie sheet that everyone can reach.
The first player draws a fraction card and takes the piece indicated (ex. 1/4 takes a quarter sized piece of cookie) and places the piece on his/her game board.
If the player draws the word crumble! he removes one whole (completed) cookie from his game board and returns it to the cookie sheet. If the player does not have a completed cookie yet, he removes the cookie with the most parts completed.
The first player to fill his game board with 6 cookies wins.
