This handout is used in a cooperative group activity to promote critical thinking in response to a reading of "The Lorax" by Dr. Seuss. Groups of students are to pretend to be "Pollution Evils" committees that have to reduce pollution. Each group will get one handout. These committees have to rate 5 different types of polluters bad to worse, and rank them from 1-5. This will cause much discussion in each group. Then all groups will compare their results with each other on a chart provided so they can see how the class as a whole concluded. This activity is good for critical thinking, problem solving, and persuasion. Teacher directions have been added in latest update.
