This is a coordinate plane activity that combines math and geography / social studies. Students plot the coordinates and connect the points in consecutive order to form a picture of an outline map of one of the U.S. States. This one is the state of TEXAS. Drawing contains 22 ordered pairs, all in the 1st quadrant (positive integers only) Product will be sent WITH ANSWER KEY in a zip file in both Microsoft Word and pdf formats. Note: I'd make the key into a transparency for quick checking. Click "Ask a question" if you'd like me to make this activity for your state.

Love these. For $1 this fun activitiy saved me tons of time!
My students are travelling to Texas this winter. I teach 6th,7th and 8th grade. I am going to adapt this activity a bit. First they will graph the map in the 1st quadrant then I will have them do a lesson on reflecting across the x and y axes and across the origin. If I am really ambitious maybe doing a slide as well. Thanks!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I started teaching in 1998. I worked as a fifth grade classroom teacher for 4 years, teaching math, English, science, and reading, then taught 3 years of middle school math, reading, and English, and for 6 years I worked as a math resource teacher in grades 2 and 4. I recently became principal of an elementary school.
