I use these 20 worksheets during Literacy Centers. The students use the code at the bottom of the page to figure out the message. They find the number at the bottom and see what the corresponding letter is. Then they write the letter on the line in the message above the correct number, These sheets contain 35 sight words and give students practice writing sight words and reading them in a sentence. They are also practicing letter recognition, number recognition, letter writing and phonics. After completing the message the students put the correct punctuation at the end of the sentence and draw an illustration at the top. For example if the sentence says, The cat is black , the students put a period at the end of the sentence and draw a black cat at the top of the page. You can also copy these worksheets on tag paper and laminate them so students can use wipe off markers and use the sheets over and over again in a Literacy Center. My students love these sheets and get so excited when they figure out the message. I hope your students enjoy them too.
