This word family sorting activity includes 2 different sets of sorting cards: 1) CVC words and 2) Long vowel words with a "silent e." Each of these sets includes one or more words in each word family with a blend or digraph. Ten word families are included in each set, for a total of 20. Blank crayons and crayon boxes are also included so you can add your own word families and/or words. Since there are no long "e" words formed with a silent e, two sets of "ee" words replace them. Two writing response sheets (one to laminate and one to copy) are included.
These sets of sorting cards are great for centers, small group reading instruction, or as a take home activity. I like to put magnets on them, turning my filing cabinet into a reading center. The bright colors and seasonal theme help to decorate the classroom, too!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Grades Taught:
Subject Area:

I have been teaching for almost 13 years, most of them spent teaching pre-K and kindergarten. I also have experience teaching up to 3rd grade. I have used my love of reading to develop a set of 30 phonics-based beginning reading books for use in preschool-first grade. In addition, I have developed sets of reading games and math games that can be used in the classroom or as take-home activities and can be adjusted to address various skill levels. I also have a range of hands on, cut-and-glue materials which keep young students engaged. They have proven to be a success in my own classroom and I'm excited to share them on Teachers Pay Teachers!
