This is a great introductory activity to do in a law class or even a civics class. Students have to consider how they would organize a large group of people stranded on a deserted island. They must think about what type of leadership is needed and what kinds of laws would be created. Students are asked to write their ideas in several paragraphs. I found that it gave me good insight into my students' writing abilities, which is very useful at the beginning of a course!

What a great creative writing project! Not only is it creative, but it will also ensure the understanding and mastery of so many concepts. There is not a lot of of high school and college material on TpT. I know they are glad you are here!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I'm a high school teacher who started teaching in 1998 in Ottawa, Ontario. I've taught a lot of different courses within the Canadian and World Studies Curriculum such as History, Civics and Law. I've also taught World Religions, Introduction to Anthropology, Psychology, and Sociology, Managing Personal Resources, and Careers. Some of my best experiences have come from being a guidance counselor and seeing the other side of life for many students. It has definitely made me a more compassionate teacher. I moved to Belleville 3 years ago to marry the best man in the world but teaching positions are non-existent here so I'm supply teaching and hopefully becoming a great contributor to TpT!
