Students will learn how to create a weekly budget by prioritizing basic needs for a family. Students will work together in a pretend family and be given a specified amount as a weekly budget. They will then use their budget to buy groceries, gas, entertainment, eating at restaurants, and buying other basic essentials. This activity is turned into a fun game by students writing down items for each category and rolling a pair of die to figure out the amount for each item. Students then add up their totals to see if they went over or under their weekly budget. FInally the teacher will explain that all family's have bills to pay on a weekly basis. Students will be given their total amount for bills and then have to go back and readjust their lists so that they have enough money for their weekly bills. This game is extremely interactive and applies to daily life skills.
