This writing project requires students to use methods of characterization to create their own characters and write about them in a fun, unique and interactive way. The document includes two specifically explained, ready-to-use activities that will walk students through the process of imagining a character and writing a short story about him/her/it. Includes possible scoring rubric that is adaptable to your needs.

What sorts of items do you place in the bag in which students choose from? This is my first year teaching writing, so I'm a little low on supplies and ideas! This is a really neat activity though!

For this activity, I actually just went to the local dollar store a bought a variety of random things--crazy necklaces & other jewelry, swim goggles, sunglasses, hats, socks, rain bonnets, anything that I could find that I thought would spark creativity.

I hope that helps!

I downloaded the Creative Characterization in Writing document of yours. I was wondering what type of items you put in the bags? Thank you. Amy
