Help your students with their creative writing, prewriting, and evaluation of themselves. I let students pick a Beanie Baby to help them create and develop their main characters but they could use other types of characters or just create their own. The first page helps students draw a picture and write a couple of words about their main character and then a smaller spot for other possible characters. The second planning page asks students to draw a picture of the setting and then two events that may happen. The third page is for writing their actual story and it will need to be copied multiple times for each student. The final page is to help students evaluate their work asking if they included their main characters, the setting, and if they used both words and pictures.
My 2nd graders are finishing up their character and setting pages but they have been so creative. I really like the way it is set up. I found a really good story elements video on brainpjr.com that I introduce each element with. It has all came together and they have had fun with it.
