This writing assignment works well for January or February when presidents are in the news, with Inauguration Day or the State of the Union speech, or on our minds, with the President's Day three day weekend. I used this activity around these events or after a social studies unit on U. S government, and I always preceded the assignment with some research about the White House and the presidency to give authenticity to the children's stories.
